After lagging behind in the early rounds, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's JMM-led INDIA alliance made a strong comeback, winning 56 out of the 81 seats in the state assembly. The BJP, which had initially led when counting began on 23 November, secured 21 seats.
The JMM contested 41 seats, while it allocated the remaining seats to its allies: Congress (30 seats), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) (6 seats), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (4 seats). The BJP contested 68 seats, with its allies, the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) fighting 10, the Janata Dal (United) 2, and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) 1.
